It may not be the same as Pitt’s Posvar Hall, but these Pitt SoE grad students and alumni are happy to be back together in the same “room” again to help plan the CIES 2021 Conference!”
Dao Nguyen, Xi Wang, Mina Hogsett and Weiyan Xong used to work together and hang out in Posvar between classes. Now that Mina and Weiyan had graduated and moved out of Pittsburgh, there had not been any in person meetings since then. Until they all come back today as a solid, supporting team who assist the preparation of the CIES 2021 Conference.

Dao Nguyen, who is IISE Program Coordinator, is currently finishing her Ph.D program in Higher Education Management.
Xi Wang is a Ph.D. student in the Social and Comparative Analysis in Education program and also works as IISE Program Coordinator.
Dr. Weiyan Xiong, IISE Program Coordinator in 2013-2017, had graduated and received his Ph.D. in Higher Education Management back in 2017.
Dr. Miranda Hogset, graduated from the Social and Comparative Analysis in Education (SCAE) last Spring 2020, is currently a professor-track faculty member at Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, NC.
They are excited to be back together and be a part of the organizers of the 65th Annual Meeting of the Comparative and International Education Society!
The 2021 CIES conference will take place April 25-29, 2021, in Seattle, Washington, and virtually through May 2, 2021. The 2021 conference theme, Social Responsibility within Changing Contexts, focuses on closely examining various scholarly works in a changing environment with a growing variety of actors who may or may not share the same visions for the future. This calls for revisiting the relationships among context, actors, visions, and action, and our own collective social responsibility.
