Pitt celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week

Current discourse in global and international education points out the importance of fostering students’ entrepreneurship. Cultivating entrepreneurship is about developing an adaptable skill set for solving problems and scaling solutions. This is increasingly important for individual student’s global competence.

Embedded in the entrepreneurship is creativity and networking, among others. Unfortunately, not all student entrepreneurs have access to the training and supports to experiment with their creativity. Many also have limited networks to help market their ideas.

To address the gap above, the Innovation Institute of University of Pittsburgh has launched the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) every year. It is a global movement to enable multiple stakeholders—educators, startup companies, business professors, bankers, etc.—to support student innovators in taking first steps toward their entrepreneurial journey.

The 2019 GEW will take place on November 15-22, 2019. The event will include several sessions, idea competition and Startup Job Fair to network with over 40 Pittsburgh startups looking to hire full-time, part-time, interns, and paid/unpaid positions in sales, marketing, operations, IT, engineering, and more.  This annual event is presented by CMU Project Olympus and co-sponsored by Pittsburgh Tech Meetup and the University of Pittsburgh's Big Idea Center.

The event is open for Pitt and CMU students and alumni. Participants are required to register. Check out the event schedule here.
