My research interests center on physical activity promotion and obesity prevention in children and youth, primary those of Latino origin. I am interested in building culturally-tailored, home- and community-based interventions to promote health equity and wellness in this population. The value of international/global education for my own work/Pitt is the diversity of perspectives, experiences, socializations, and backgrounds that occur as a result to sharpen and strengthen the Pitt community. Further, the availability of Spanish-speaking students fuels my research projects and ties them to the existing Latino community in Pittsburgh.
