Yaqun Chao

Yaqun Chao is a second-year Ph.D. candidate at Beijing Normal University, which is in Beijing, China. She is currently serving as a visiting graduate student at the Institute for International Studies in Education (IISE), University of Pittsburgh. Her faculty counterpart at the University of Pittsburgh are Prof. Maureen McClure and Prof. Jean Ferketish, and her current research project is about “Faculty Development in American University.”

CHAO received her master’s degree in comparative education from Beijing Normal University in 2018. Before this, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Education from Qufu Normal University. Her research focuses on qualitative analysis of faculty development. She has research experience in both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the culture of the advisor-postgraduate fellowship in China. She has also conducted research on improper teaching behaviors of the American faculty. She is currently working on her Ph.D. dissertation on the tenured faculty’s development in America.

She has many hobbies such as playing badminton, playing table-tennis, listening to music, watching drama as well as making friends. She is very interested in American culture and hope to know it better here.
